Overview

Poverty is a reality in contemporary Ghana especially in rural Ghana. The poverty
analysis report of 2009 indicates that about 65% of rural inhabitants in Ghana
are poor and can not afford basic human needs. Mostly affected are rural human
and the virile youths. Consequently, Ghanaian rural women shoulder the burden
of the country’s poverty. Reducing urban-rural disparity and gender inequality
is therefore crucial for our poverty
reduction strategy just as mobilizing the potential productivity of rural people particularly women is indispensible to achieve the resilient economic growth that will pull people above the poverty line. At mount Zion welfare centre, inc,[MZWC]the city of hope builders
we provide exceptional local efforts by fostering community participation and empowering people through culturally sensitive education and
training. We create systems change
by investing time, expertise and funding to improve the quantity and circumstances of life that reflect values
and interests .we earned the name hope
builders because we provide inspirational leadership.
At Mount Zion, we provide the mobilizing link by serving as bridge
builders between marginalized rural communities and donors. We encourage the
communities to make our programmes their own. In the process, we build in-depth
strategic partnership among the business, public and civil society sector and
thereby restore peoples self confidence, help them develop expertise and assist
in creating new and thriving communities out of the ashes of the old by
response with local, indigenous, creative and far reaching solutions that are changing
lives- proven innovation programmes and practices that have been developed, and
sufficiently tested overtime to meet women and youths need. We strongly believe
there is a correlation between a community’s quality of life, their ability to
address basic human needs, and to achieve transformation. Education, strategic
and effective mobilization of resources and the ability of the poor to work are
the links.
